Bedford Row

Bedford Row reimagines a series of listed buildings in the heart of Bloomsbury to create exemplary office accommodation. The scheme works with the plan-form of a Georgian townhouse, restoring orientation and hierarchy among three connected properties. Cellular offices are transformed into sociable workspaces with new open floorplates, pavilion extensions and a series of roof terraces.

The three volumes have their own distinctive style. The townhouse is returned to its former glory and traditional details are celebrated. The mews building to the rear riffs upon the traditional architecture of the coach house whilst the lightweight orangery-style link creates a shared roof garden that connects between the two. Internally, the spaces seamlessly interconnect to create accessible office accommodation whilst being sensitive to the site’s heritage.
