Practical completion at a private residential project. Set amongst the rural coastline of Devon is Woolacombe House, a single dwelling in an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Much consideration was given to the extension and renovation to create extensive openings for coastal views and a flexible, family holiday home.
A material palette was selected to work in coexistence with the natural setting and rural scenes. White walls frame the openings that provide key views to the outdoors and seasonal changing coastal colours.
Locally sourced materials such as clay and timber were used for the walls and cladding, introducing texture and to celebrate the local vernacular. A white washed oak extension to the rear provides a much needed sheltered entrance and utility space to connect the living spaces to the outside
