Its ‘fabric-first’ approach prioritises retention and reuse of existing materials – exposed brick, steel and glass – honouring the building’s history while achieving spatial clarity and rich character.
Clever interventions, such as combining two low-ceilinged floors into a generous double-height auditorium, optimise the plan’s flow and light. Extensive use of breathable, low-carbon materials underscores the commitment to sustainability, earning the project a deserved honourable mention in this category.”
