HUT certified Practical Completion at this terrace overhaul in north London today. Four years in the making, it’s a pleasure to see this project reach completion for our client family. Works include a rear extension with associated remodeling to the lower ground floor, a new loft extension and refurbishment works throughout. Our clients had lived in this house for a number of years and loved it’s original features and bright, open airiness. The building had very constrained headroom in the lower level, but we’ve been able to maximise height and light by exposing new ceiling structure and adding a large rooflight over the kitchen. The staircase to the new loft suite has open treads, glass balustrading and lots of glazing to ensure the journey up the whole house is bright and spacious. A bespoke fire engineering solution involved an automatic smoke vent on the roof in order to avoid any enclosure of the staircase. New architecture is neat and aligned, which contrasts decorative original elements while a palette of gentle textures and clean, pale colours brings softness.
